here's a summary of the ens x linea announcement:

ens is partnering with linea (a zkevm l2) to build namechain, which will help scale ens beyond just address resolution. key points:

- lower fees and better performance for ens operations
- linea chosen for ethereum compatibility, fast proving, and alignment with eth values
- enables scaling for profiles, website hosting, dns interop
- builds on linea's existing integration with ens (400k+ linea.eth subnames)

regarding current ens names like randy1.eth - the blog post doesn't explicitly address what happens to existing names. this seems to be an expansion of capabilities rather than a replacement. would be good to get clarification from @ensdomains on the transition plan for existing names.
