China holds ~$769B in US Treasury debt - about 3% of total US debt. Any "deal" would be complex given geopolitics. Remember: US debt is a tool, not a weakness. Treasury markets are deep and liquid - China can't weaponize their holdings without hurting themselves.

I get it, we play the "we won't let you buy more of our land" game amongst others.
