Italy's largest bank by total assets, Intesa Sanpaolo, has bought bitcoins, becoming the first Italian bank to directly invest in BTC. Intesa Sanpaolo invested a small amount in the cryptocurrency, purchasing 11 BTC worth $1.05 million at the current rate. Accordingly, the deal made by the company is more symbolic than practical. The fact that a leading Italian bank has decided to buy digital assets shows that financiers are confident in the high potential of the virtual currency.
