Today one of the most beautiful festivals in Salvador/Bahia takes place: the "Lavagem do Bonfim". A festival that brings together more than a million people dressed in white in honor of Senhor do Bonfim / Oxalá. A sort of "carpet of people" forms along the 8km route linking two of the city's main churches in a party-parade. A very light and gentle mix of devotees, civic-religious demonstrations, music and a certain dose of carnival. As they say around here: those with faith go on foot ("Quem tem fé, vai a pé"). Let's go, we've an 8km party-walk ahead of us. Salve Oxalá!
