The simplest version of making your channel membership more open will be through a frame.

1. Pin the frame as the top cast in your channel

2. A user who isn't a member can click on the frame

3. Frame calls relevant APIs — token-gating, spam filtering, etc. — and the immediately invites any qualifying user to the channel.

4. So while there won't be a formal "request to join channel" built-in to Warpcast, the design allows for any developer to build channel gating software on day 1. 

5. This can also be used in conjunction with other moderation software (since we will now allow up to 10 moderators per channel). Use one tool for membership gating and another content moderation (if that's what you want to do), and use the other 8 moderation slots for people heavily invested in your community.

Here's the concept for an open source frame that would do this.

Make it configurable for developers to start. And then easy enough for someone comfortable with Claude or Replit.

Then eventually make a full fledged no code tool.

Hmm have this for frames gated content, could just enhance it. And one learning: it’s important to check if the bot was able to deliver his message! 

And a cron job for revoking could be useful.

For nefarious users and bots that can break it you mean?

If you set dc to other users don’t allow, then a bot has no chance to sent a dc (when the user don’t follow the bot)

Just mean if user don’t allow, then it’s good to implement an error handling, this was just my learning with my last bot. I gave a hint that I couldn’t deliver the message and that the use either have to follow the bot or open the DC.

I've always had mine open tho lots live in the waiting for response or get deleted of I find them unsavory. I DYOR and inquire about the messages or accounts before actions for sure.
