I mainly look to see if reputable investors are backing them and also look at their discord or website groups to see when they're planning for TGE. See what category they belong to and if any hype is around it, then you have to decide how much to invest into it. For example ENA was really quick and was very good!

So where does a newble start looking?  So hard to know what is worth looking at and what is not.

Cosmos ecosystem will take time and the bull run hasn't started so if your time horizon is wide enough surely it'll appreciate in value as well. Staking is safe as well compared to providing liquidity in some Dex or unknown LRT. Should be careful when farming new airdrops.
