We have a few random backyard cats. Most unusual thing Iโ€™ve seen though was a family of wild turkeys standing on my pool deck.

we have more wildlife in Baltimore metro than you'd expect, including deer... but no wild turkeys. Just turkey vultures and their crow companions.

How far are you from downtown Baltimore? Honestly donโ€™t know much about the city other than the inner harbor and the football/baseball fields. Iโ€™m only about 3 miles from the center of downtown in my metro, but I see deer nearly every day.

I live downtown, but have property in North and Northeast Baltimore. We don't see wildlife downtown, which tracks: too few giant, wooded parks. (but near pigtown we have underground horse stables, so there's that). Outside of downtown/ harbor area, we have parks and wooded zones large enough to host dear, coyote, foxes, and such. It's neat and sometimes surprising.

Yeah, that sounds kind of like where I am. Iโ€™m actually dead center of the metro area, even more central than downtown, but in a massive Olmsted Park. Itโ€™s a nice enclave. Canโ€™t leave my dog outside unattended though because of Coyotes and large birds of prey

On more than one occasion I have seen baltimore ravens (and crows) snatch baby bunnies from unprotected nests. Metal af. I was less excited to see my younger dog /eat/ the freshly decapitated bunny head that raven left behind. Still metal af.

Jesus, I heard the streets of Baltimore were rough, sounds like the green-space follows suit.

Hah. Our crime is manageable and ravens are a proud part of Poe's city. They make great street cleaners ๐Ÿ˜‰

lol, I got your meaning. Are there actually a lot crows there? Or is that playing into the Poe thing? Or did the crows there inspire Poe to write The Raven?

Lots of crows, yep. Clever ones too. Local men train them to do tricks. Crows and ravens are native to the region. Poe wrote The Raven in Baltimore, and chose the bird because of its dark and foreboding character. But they're common animals in the US, afaik.
