Has anyone done an analysis of the expected income amounts manually chopping wood versus putting those villagers in the wood camp

If I log, I get 120 wood per hour — that’s 720 wood in 6 hours.
If I chop, I get between 403 and 881 wood.

So, most of the time, chopping gives less wood than logging.

I wonder if the 403 to 881 is evenly distributed or if there is some probability distribution. Likely just evenly distributed though which means logging is better. Kind of sad in a way that fully automated gameplay is optimal.

it's evenly distributed at @brianethier said.
Logging is meant to be better since there is a cost to build lumber camps.
And I don't want people to lose sleep over chopping. except maybe in the early game. 😅
