The DEGEN tipping incentive is actually hugely powerful. My allowance is small... but selecting someone to provide that allowance to is an intentional act, providing a fun opportunity to extend appreciation. 

There's something to be said about the positivity that's nurtured through those interactions!

It's cool to think that buying a drink for a friend who's literally across the world is as easy as punching in a comment. Used to be such a headache to send funds for necessities, let alone niceties

Agree. It would be great though if you could verify immediately that you actually received those tips. Now everybody can just "tip" 10000 DEGEN without actually having that kind of tip allowance. Makes the whole thing somewhat meaningless.
