It is not impossible but it’s hard to ask all the right questions in one session without overwhelming the client.

I usually send a form to know what they want exactly and follow up with calls to listen and understand their vision better. 

Sharing your design process also helps you get feedbacks and you can make adjustments when needed.

The main thing here is don't assume.

This is very key. But is it really possible to ask all the right questions in a one time meet-up?
