Svelte still needs to be compiled right? I'm a big fan of vanilla JS, but I want people to be able to actually edit it, not just some new obscure language that uses vanilla JS as some intermediary. In the past few years I've finally started moving from jQuery/AngularJS to React, and don't like it, but everything else is broken.

(disclaimer: not a web expert), but, yes svelte 5 still needs to be compiled, there is a small runtime though for the fine grained reactivity with signals. it’s much less obscure, imo, than react. you write plain javascript html and css essentially. svelte 5 is very good, i’d highly recommend giving it a look :)
