Someone apparently found a hashmark on the side of the road and didn't know what it was. They posted on neighborhood chat, someone did reverse image search, and asked their friend who knew about NFTs, eventually contacted me. Likely story is that it was stolen by mail courier during shipping, discarded as worthless, but miraculously found and reunited this "heavy metal object" with the owner 🙏(who was hours away).

Past several months have been really enjoyable, I've been head down working on an idea that started last year, and it's soon time to share (announcement of an announcement) It's a blockchain experiment that's a little quirky, a little risky. While making Hashmarks for @brightmoments Patagonia event last November, I saved the forge scale, the flaky oxide residue from forging process. I ground it into a powder and worked with a local printmaker to use it as a pigment in the gum-bichromate photographic printing process. https://hashmarks.deafbeef.com Limited edition print run now in progress, will ship soon.

Before NFTs, my main gig was as a blacksmith jeweller. I made and sold over 3000 hand forged wedding bands mostly out of titanium, stainless steel, iron, sometimes gold. Physical or digital tokens are equally arbitrary; intangible value derives mostly from assigned meaning due to the story.

Wrote a fugue using #bitcoin genesis block hash, first 13 nonzero digits as the intervals of the main theme.
