IDK about that. Ethereum is powerful, but archiving petabytes of old text and images for posterity is not what blockchains do best.

Definitely agree with that - my interpretation of this issue isn't that everything needs to be saved, but the fact that until very recently basically nothing could be "canonically" saved in a credibly neutral way. You don't need ALL the records, just the keystone ones.
