Postgres is surprisingly bad. I think we’ve been stockholm’d into treating it as the default option. I’ll write more detail if curious, but the query planner is garbage & that’s just one issue. Has anyone successfully switched to MariaDB or other options?

Postgres is quite battle tested. What is the major issue you are dealing with?

Curious. We're having success with clickhouse for one project, but not as a direct substitution.

We have several postgres DBs (cnpg) and all of them work very well. MariaDB (MySQL) works in a different manner, pay attention to the engine you select.

I think it works very well for the majority of usecases! The only real issues I've had with performance I've been able to resolve by rewriting queries. I'm curious to hear why you think it's not ideal
