surprising how little failures seem to matter in trad tech. equifax leaks 100m SSNs? stock down a few precent, news forgotten after a week. crowdstrike pushed an update that blue screened all their customers 911 call centers, airport ticketing computers, azure. stock tanked 10% to levels unseen since last month.

this is one deeper way that crypto is just different. hacks are irrevocable, transactions irreversible, stakes real. this is why Coinbase GSOC, for example, is a much stronger security team than anything at the suit-driven enterprises that store your tax returns. they have skin in the game.

In other words, not all fuck ups are judged equally. Another aspect that plays a roll in the dip is consistent media coverage. It's easier for media to show stock footage of things like long delays and transportation disruptions on loop, then it is to visually show the damage of someone's SSN being compromised

Interesting. In 2010, McAfee had a colossal glitch with Windows XP that took down a good part of the internet. The man who was McAfee's CTO at that time is now the CEO of Crowdstrike. Mcafee ended up selling to intel

What does next quarter guidance look like? Are customers fleeing to alternatives? Are lawsuits piling up? If their growth outlook is negative we will see another step down. I bought 2025 puts because I think there will be business impact here, but timing that is hard.
