I’ve always believed the late seventies to early eighties was the best time one could have been born. Experienced just enough of the analog world to truly appreciate the digital revolution without being scared of it and without being born into it. I seem to have similar childhood experiences as you related to this.

3kb/s was a good download speed. Downloading 10mb in an hour was normal. Websites didn't have pictures because the speed was so slow they wouldn't load.

And now there are 4+ billion or so? It's incredible. Back in the 90's, knowing how to access BBS's felt like a superpower, and I'll never forget explaining email to my family.
