I used to listen to the Glenn Show with him and John McWhorter a lot. They’re two of the sharpest ppl out there when it comes to the usual culture war issues - not that that’s all they talk about, but it’s def their shtick. I should check him out again.

Totally. Like who looks at this chart and thinks inflation isn’t moving in the right direction? Sure, things could be better, but ppl need to celebrate the incredible progress we’ve made.

Hard to disagree with most of this, but I don't see anything about zoning reform. Our current housing policies effectively give a massive subsidy to incumbent homeowners (i.e., boomers). We need to build massive amounts of dense housing in this country. Makes social, economic, and environmental sense.

Is housing inflation finally starting to cool off? I hope so. https://twitter.com/ernietedeschi/status/1790724620141604934

Interesting theory: urban decay led to a boom in serial killers, and mass surveillance stopped them https://x.com/paulskallas/status/1663592144953540628?s=46

No problem! Yeah I think the sports district might replace the west side of the salt palace, and it looks like the Main Street promenade might connect to the east side of the salt palace. There’s also talk of building an arts/entertainment/transit district by the Rio Grande. Lots of exciting developments.

Yeah I really hope it comes together! This plus the green loop could really transform downtown into something beautiful.

Very excited for this. Pedestrianization is good for business and the people love it. https://buildingsaltlake.com/main-street-is-a-big-step-closer-to-getting-a-pedestrian-mall-makeover/

That must be nice. Montreal is also one of the most walkable/bikeable cities in NA. They have it figured out up there.

People are cowards though, we need to incentivize social contact by making it easy to walk places and bump into people. Also, front yard happy hours are probably illegal in most suburbs.

I've had multiple friends express interest in a commune-type situtation, they would love this.
