Armageddon is a science fiction and catastrophe film directed by Michael Bay and released in 1998. The plot revolves around a massive asteroid the size of Texas heading toward Earth, threatening to cause a mass extinction.

To avert disaster, NASA recruits a group of oil rig drillers, led by Harry S. Stamper (played by Bruce Willis), to travel to the asteroid, drill into its surface, and introduce a nuclear bomb that destroys it. The film combines action, drama, and romance, and features an all-star cast that includes Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Billy Bob Thornton, and Steve Buscemi.
