In this week's Sunday installment at Dark Markets, I explain why Rationalism as a movement shouldn't be confused with rationality as a tool. In the end, Rationalists aren't actually very rational at all. In one clear example, they don't seem to at all believe that marketplaces are good tools for social coordination. Instead, they seem to agree with their major funder Peter Thiel that "competition is for losers." Insulating themselves from competition in the marketplace of ideas is, of course, who they wound up being wildly incorrect about everything, advancing implicitly authoritarian ideas - and enabling the $8 billion #FTX fraud. #tescreal #aidoom #yudkowsky https://tinyurl.com/55nmthun
