i believe apple is slowly turning into ibm, with a chance to turn the other way—i’m giving it until 2027.

some quick points: its past reliance on success, the post-founder vision well running dry after steve and ive, and stagnation effects kicking in.

key differences from ibm: apple still has an ecosystem it can recover with, a strong silicon strategy, and full retail/sales control. but if it leans too hard on lock-in instead of real innovation, that advantage could erode.

i clarify: i still prefer apple’s os over android, but i’ve been exploring alternatives—including privacy-first phones like unplugged, which has a kill switch for mics and a self-destruct option which is wild!
