kinda weird the amount of hate the CCP gets on this app I’ll talk more about this when I get back home from China but basically I think it’s extremely optimistic to have this much fear/hate for a countries govt and to not think that any of that spills over onto Chinese(or Asian) people

To be fair, I’ve seen and experienced a rapid rise in Asian hate crimes since Covid. Wouldn’t say that hate against CCP doesn’t create similar issues, given what happened in the US with Japanese Americans during WWII. The fear of any foreign power disrupting the west is portrayed as “threatening.” We can see this from mythical creatures such as Orcs. If you trace it back to the super old days, Orcs are a byproduct of when the mongols almost took over the entire western hemisphere during the age of Kubilai Khan. (Continued)

@briang your assertions are: 1. CCP hate = hate towards China and Chinese. 2. Hate towards China and Chinese = Asian hate. 3. CCP hate = Asian hate. Maybe you’re coming from the angle that East Asians look pretty similar from an ethnic perspective, but I’m not quite sure as if this logic follows. (Continued)

A lot of Asians outside of the US and China really don’t like the CCP. I don’t even have to dig into the internment camps in Xinjiang. A fairly unbiased point is the one belt one road initiative, which has bankrupt many Asian counties that are no longer able to protect their sovereignty. (Continued)

I think a better argument would be to take concession to the fact that there’s a lot of things that the CCP is doing which is negatively impacting democracy and its surrounding neighbors, but highlight that the CCP doesn’t necessarily represent China or Chinese culture as a whole. (continued)
