Planetary Nebula Little Pearl (NGC 6818). NGC 6818 formed about 3,500 years ago when a Sun-like star reached the final phase of its life cycle and "shed" its outer gas shells. Stellar material gradually flew through interstellar space from the core - a white dwarf left after the star's death - acquiring increasingly complex and interesting shapes. Notably, the central white dwarf of this nebula has a companion star located 150 AU away from it. JWST
