To me, if you want to catch up with Blockchain technology, the easiest way is to just stick very closely to go-ethereum code and discussions. Anything else seems like applications of it instead of tech. Reading it, understanding it, contributing to it builds your foundation accelerate. It's the real value of ETH right there.
