This week at ritual.net I prepared to open-source a fullstack app Iâve been working on for the last nine months. It can be initialized either as a local setup or a Docker Compose setup. The biggest hurdle I overcame was upgrading the EdgeDB Docker image from v4 to v5 â reconciling all the breaking changes, finding workarounds for unexplained and undocumented changes in bootstrapping behavior, and streamlining config variables to mirror the existing local EdgeDB v5 setup as closely as possible. If all goes well, youâll be hearing more about it next week. (Oh my goodness, I am so close to launching this thing, doing my own QA for this has been an absolute nightmare, and I cannot wait to get back to some actual frontend engineering for a change đźâđš)

Discovered edgeDB thanks to this post. Hmm sounds very intriguing indeed. So instead of an ORM layer on top of say postgesql, it's a database with all the modern QOL bells-and-whistles built in đ€
