Farcaster

Frames sparked a ton of creativity and showcased what a composable social feed could look like. Frames v2 were a completely new standard that combined in feed interactivity with fully-fledged web applications. 

The term itself has become confusing since it refers to multiple things within Farcaster. It is also unrecognizable to developers outside the ecosystem.

One idea is to Frames -> Mini Apps. This will reduce term confusion and make it legible to huge ecosystem of developers working on applications in ecosystems like Telegram and World.

What say you?

• Frames v2 → Mini-apps
• Frames v1 → Farcaster Frames / Open Frames

Makes developers feel more confident about building on the protocol because there’s no implication of a “Frames v3” that might inevitably obsolete the previous two.

Also, I hope Frames v1 stick around because there’s lots of unexplored composability potential across both!

Naming things with semantic version numbers has a way of breaking your brain.

In the back of your mind, you just know there is another dreaded codebase migration right round the corner, forever and ever until you inevitably churn.
