@horsefacts.eth distinguished between two possible interpretations of the recent “make money, then make friends” messaging: cynical-extractive and earnest-productive.

The default image when people hear “make money” as a value prop is likely closer to cynical-extractive mode than earnest-productive. Especially in crypto.

So in addition to making this distinction, I’d recommend that anyone who’s directing this messaging toward creators add some caveats to avoid misleading them. 

Creators are targeted by bait-and-switch patterns — and all manner of extractive schemes — so frequently and with such impunity that many have (rightfully) become reluctant to trust.

Without this clarity, creators may churn once they realize that while some earn better money on FC (tips, rewards, etc.) than they could on other platforms, content creation work here doesn’t necessarily translate into reliable revenue. 

Making money on FC is one thing; making a livelihood in the Farconomy is another.

Maybe the real “livelihood in the Farconomy” was… the friends we made along the way?
