Speaking of Kursk, I find it interesting to mention that the Kursk region (1943) was the scene of the largest tank battle in the history of mankind, involving about 6000 tanks, 2,000,000 soldiers and about 4000 airplanes

The Russians won but with high losses. The Germans at that time were trying everything to stabilize the eastern front. Although they made good progress in the beginning , they had to retreat due to the numerical superiority of the Russians. This further destabilized the eastern front and forced the Germans to retreat. The losses on both sides are hard to tell but the numbers that are often thrown around are around 800,000 Causalities on the Russian side and 200,000 on the German side
