Rune Christensen, co-founder of Sky (formerly MakerDAO), clarified that DAI will continue to operate as usual and remain usable. The transition to USDS is optional, and only USDS will include a freeze function. He emphasized that DAI is an immutable smart contract that cannot be changed. Initially, there won't be a freeze function; however, there will be an option to upgrade. This upgrade would allow future governance to implement a freeze function after carefully evaluating data to mitigate as many risks as possible.
