So, if you staked 1 ETH for 1 year you would get ~$1500.
Good as APY. Not that great as airdrop farming.
You're better off buying the token after.

You're assuming that the value of KEP is an accurate representation of what each Eigen point will actually be worth

Markets tend to assume correctly.
1 KEP is a wrapped Eigenlayer point. That is its current market value. The point being, buying KEP is the most capital efficient way to farm or hedge the airdrop. Unless, big stakers get penalised, but the way it was structured makes it highly unlikely.
