Speaking of systems thinking: I re-read this classic Donella Meadows essay frequently.

Took me a long time to get around to reading it because the title makes it sound kind of dry. It's actually really engaging, or at least it is for a certain breed of nerd.... lol. 

One of her strengths as a writer is her judicious use of examples to illustrate the more abstract points.
