I don’t mean to stir the pot but a lot of people aren’t just building their business around farcaster, they are selling it every day. It burns just a little when @dwr.eth shrugs off marketing because farcaster is getting a lot of marketing of the labor of people who center the platform. I would be so happy seeing them (you 2) compensated

Thanks for saying this, Trish. I'd love to see a lot more discussion about labor and compensation in Farcaster contexts. I love this place and I want it to succeed in positive-sum ways. I write about labor questions occasionally, and it's a challenging subject to cover because it's so complex. I appreciate you bringing it up in this context.

Good points. I'm not arguing that everyone should be on the payroll either. But I'd be happy to see more open discussion about how often the default expectation is "free" labor, particularly with respect to how these norms affect creators. 

I do think the Moxie team, at least, has put some real effort into rewarding the labor that casters put in here every day to create content. We need more of that kind of experimentation from other projects too. Let a thousand get-creators-paid experiments bloom.

I know I say this often, but I think if any place can get this right, it will be Farcaster. I'm here for it.

Yeah we talk a lot about money so long as it’s gambling, grants, selling art (devs killing that opportunity) but nobody wants to talk about compensation or admit that a social network works because of all of the labor users put into it. I’m not suggesting we’re all on the payroll but more open conversations about how creative people are not valued here much more than they were in the spaces they fled
