Fantastic list. I would add:
- House of suns (and short story thousandth night)
- Altered Carbon
- Permutation city
- Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (by Eliezer, not strictly scifi but scratches the same itch)

On basilisk station is a fun and light palate cleanser

@sanjay likes similar things, maybe he has some good recs
