Salt is used in creating these knives isn't it? I watched a documentary the other day on stuff like this. Super cool.

Oh I see. This guy is using salt and vinegar to do an electroless etching of an image on a premade knife. That is not how I make my knives. I forge them from scratch and the texture is made by using 3 different types of hammers. I can do an etching like this on a knife. but my process for that is much different.
