time for our first weekly SUPERDUPER fresh spotlight! highlighting two based NFT collections that are doing quite some noise. /degen-punks by @apex777 /punkapepen by @danielrotter both are fully onchain 10k collections (L3 Degen Chain/BASE) with active & dedicated creators, a vibing community and a noteworthy volume.

hey @apex777 Yes, the collection is fully on-chain. The data (json-files) is forever stored on the Arweave chain.

arweave doesn’t count as “fully Onchain” FYI. I would be careful using that term. Fully Onchain means “No external dependencies” Arweave is an external dependency here. https://onchainchecker.xyz/collection/base/0xf39be779905d16fe23b2cc1297dc3e759d2daa11/9386 Check out @tokenfox.eth cool tool.

but Aerwave is a chain. So the data is on-chain. it is not a server like ifps. (our dev can explain this a lot better and did it already on our discord. 😆) I know there are different variants of „on-chain“ the images are not in the contract as they are too detailed to do it like that with our collection.

Yes it’s Onchain, but it’s a different chain. “fully Onchain” is when the assets and NFT live on the same chain. No external dependencies. If Areweaves dies but base doesn’t, you have no NFT. For my Dinos, you only need Base. Nothing else. Feel free to drop me a DM, happy to explain it more 🫡

„fully on chain“ is also a claim we didn’t make. we are on chain, an that’s it. we tried several different options, and it what just not possible like that with this collection. So Aerwave is at the moment the only on-chain solution that worked for us.

this feels like a badfaith distortion of what it means to be "onchain". it's commonly understood that "onchain" means that the NFT exists and is served purely within its own chain. if the nft image exists externally on a third-party hosting solution, regardless if it is a "blockchain", doesn't make it suddenly onchain

the value prop of something being "onchain" is that the nft is contained fully within a network that you are bullish on. eth and bitcoins are goated, and to be fully "onchain" means it will persists forever and not rely on the survival on another chain. that is why the term "onchain" shouldn't be distorted, just my 2c
