I need to write a thread on what parts of Farcaster are on-chain vs off-chain since so many people have been asking.

Onchain: FIDs, signer keys, storage units (fnames coming soon)

Everything else at the protocol level is stored in Hubs and then clients can build their own centralized features on top, implementation up to them
