Post taken from FB: "The big picture: Kaspa is designing a way to connect its main blockdag (L1) with second layers (L2). These second layers are designed to handle advanced tasks like smart contracts, using something called zk rollups. The focus right now is on a "based" setup. This means: L1 (the main layer) will handle the most important jobs: keeping track of transactions, settling payments, and storing data. L2 (the second layer) will handle the execution of more complicated tasks, like running smart contracts. How does this work? When users want to make a transaction, they send it directly to L1. Some of these transactions include extra data for L2, which tells it to carry out smart contract actions. The topic of this essay: One of the main goals of this system is to make sure users can easily move their KAS coins between L1 and L2. This is done using a ā€œcanonical bridgeā€ā€”think of it as a secure entry and exit ramp for transferring coins between the two layers."
