Ah yea, their 1st-party Obsidian Sync is paid, but on iOS you can use iCloud Drive and on Android you can use other cloud storage providers, like Dropbox.

There's this open source VS Code extension called Foam which brings some of the features of Roam/Obsidian to VS Code: https://foambubble.github.io/foam/. Used it for a bit before just moving over to Obsidian for the more polished UX 😛
