Does a fork like this align with Bitcoin’s values? If it can be achieved, then yes. That’s the anarchic consensus at work. That’s anarchism.

I completely understand not wanting elites to use their wealth and power to overshadow the use of this decentralized technology, but I’m pretty sure hard forking for any other reason besides compromise of the consensus by dishonest players is against the Bitcoin ethos.

Dishonesty of the consensus, specifically. I can’t read Satoshi’s mind, but my understanding of the Bitcoin ethos is specifically that nobody has the power to spend money they don’t have or lie about who transacted what.

Yes true, and to be fair I think it’s important that it was never up for debate (to meaningful extent) as a nascent technology. Now that nation states are adopting though, we really have the leverage to show them that this isn’t just tradfi 2.0 It’s people governed
