FYI- Crunched the numbers and the CMHC fee on a $1.5 M mortgage is $57K..to save coming up with $225,000 of down payment. Not great. CMHC primarily protects the banks (and brings down the rate by 10bps for consumers)

CMHC seems to benefit banks more than homebuyers, with only a slight rate reduction for consumers.
