I'm an israeli leftist (2nd gen new yorker), did a lot of organizing and political advocacy during my years in israel but no longer wanting to live there. the kibbutz movement has a lot of problematic zionist roots but ultimatly it was a secular movement, it died a long time before the supermacist , neoliberal, expansionist zionism came to power which accelerated and created the current situation also a kibbutz is just a fairly generic structure for a cooperative self sustaining agrarian unit , there's nothing really special about it
