Seeing many folks here especially the new to the space, get confused between Farcaster (@farcaster) and Warpcast (@warpcast) so here is an ELI5
Farcaster and Warpcast are closely related but serve distinct roles within the decentralized social media ecosystem. Farcaster is a decentralized, blockchain-based protocol designed to enable social interactions like posting, commenting, and sharing content. It provides the underlying infrastructure and rules that power a censorship-resistant, user-controlled social network, built on Optimism, a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum. Think of Farcaster as the foundation—a set of open-source tools and standards that developers can use to create social applications.
Warpcast, on the other hand, is a specific application, or client, built on top of the Farcaster protocol. It’s the most prominent and user-friendly way to interact with Farcaster, offering an interface similar to traditional social media platforms like Twitter (or X), but with decentralized features. 0 reply
