Because it will reduce the amount of extra supply created per day significantly

Right now every single account can print a certain amount of new $DEGEN per day

With that measure, this amount will greatly reduce, creating less downward pressure on the price when the effective airdrops come

It's a smart move. Most of it has been explained well by @gig 

Makes a lot sense from a tokenomics standpoint. 

Also, I bought 11.111 degen yesterday for about 9.80$ and it's now 14$... But not going to sell because I need the degen in there and I believe in the project.
