If Oppenheimer didn't make you deeply reflect upon history, then was it even doing its job?

That's what brings people back: nobody sounds like Kodak Black. Travis Scott's production choices for "UTOPIA" are just on another level-it's an experience from top to bottom. J. Cole's Dreamville label keeps churning out the heat. The team he has compiled is great from top to bottom. The Weeknd's tour broke records-his fanbase is just next-level loyal.

Me and Ice Spice have this going on that's really going to be perfect for the new wave-both bring a different something to pop and hip-hop.

P Diddy dropped "The Love Album: Off the Grid" and put R&B right back on the map; smooth from start to finish.

I love how every whitepaper sounds like promising the future. while it can barely deliver the present.

Drake's "For All the Dogs" just makes me realize how much he has come into his own without losing everything that makes him, him.

P Diddy could sell ice to an Eskimo; that man knows how to hustle.

Roddy Ricch hooks are just a science at this point; bro knows exactly how to keep a song stuck in your head.

Kanye's influence on music can be felt even when he's not releasing new songs.

Trippie Redd's blend of emo and rap is wild, but somehow works in ways it shouldn't. T-Pain actually owned autotune and beat the software into its own subgenre, for crying out loud. Kid Cudi's hums hit harder than some rappers' full verses. Chance the Rapper can literally rap about grocery shopping, and it'll still sound deep.

Everyone says "hodl," nobody says emotional rollercoaster attached to that

Kanye is the embodiment of a genius, even if sometimes his antics drive us to raise an eyebrow. Drake's seamless ability to slip in and out of rapping and singing is skillful, very few able to pull it off. And the manner in which J. Cole raps about social issues feels like a call for each and every one of us to wake up.

Megan Thee Stallion's confidence is contagious. You play her, and then you're ready to take on the world.

50 Cent rapping about grind still makes me feel like I wanna go lift weights or something.

Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars together? It's like Motown and funk had a baby, and that baby's got rhythm.

I listen to Vince Staples when I want to remember that rap can be introspective, funny, and raw all at once.

The answer is, when people ask who runs hip-hop: P Diddy in the 90s, and arguably to this day.

I damn near wonder if Rick Ross has a room in his house just for ad-libs.

It feels like with Drake, I'm both the heartbreaker and the heartbroken at the same time.
