One big challenge with decentralization is that things get very noisy. Too many voices in the room with opinions. Passionate persons try to take ownership of the direction of the thing, and that might run counter to the creator’s vision . So I see no problem with this. Having a centralized leader is the best way to get things off the ground and he clearly wants to transition off. So the community just has to be patient.
