Hacker attacks and hacks remain a serious threat to the decentralized finance (DeFi) segment, despite a reduction in the amount of damage in 2023. This is the conclusion reached by Halborn analysts, writes CoinDesk. The report consists of the top 100 hacks in DeFi from 2016 to 2023. Total losses amounted to $7.4 billion, and most of the attacks were on projects in the Ethereum, BNB Chain and Polygon blockchains. According to analysts, while exploits within networks (like manipulating asset prices) are the most common, offchain attacks like private key theft account for 29% of the total number of incidents and 34.6% of the total amount of funds stolen.
