Here's another Magnetic Video Corporation gem. This time, a betamax of "THE PANIC IN NEEDLE PARK" (1971), Al Pacino's first lead role. Also starring Kitty Winn, directed by Jerry Schatzberg. The film portrays the life of heroin addicts who hang out in "Needle Park", New York. This (still factory sealed) betamax tape was released in 1977 and is the only sealed tape to exist. This nearly half-a-century old tape is not only factory sealed, but it is also one of the first movies released on home video, likely the first-ever batch to come out of the factory. The film being Al Pacino's first lead role makes it even more special. THE PANIC IN NEEDLE PARK, regardless of its release year (1977, 78, 79, or 80) is one of the rarest Magnetic Video tapes.

Here are two of my rarest Magnetic Video VHS tapes. "THE MAKING OF STAR WARS" documentary, released in 1979, is the first-ever Star Wars media to be released. The first tape (with the title on the upper half of the cover) was released in 1979 for US audiences. It still has its original shrinkwrap and is in near-mint condition. The second tape, with the title on the lower half of the cover, was also released in 1979, but for South Pacitic (Australia and New Zealand). This is the first time a photo of the South Pacific release has been posted on the internet. There are probably other surviving copies, but this is most likely the best preserved copy of that particular release in existence. #StarWars #VHS #MagneticVideo

Can I use warpcast for non-crypto stuff ? Will give it a try anyway. One of my passions is film. Not just watching them, but also collecting physical media, like dvd's & blu-ray discs, but also vintage betamax & VHS tapes. Here are two pics of some my post prized vintage VHS tapes. The majority of these VHS tapes were released in the late 1970s. Magnetic Video Corporation was the first label to release VHS tapes for home consumption. They licensed 50 movies from FOX. The first VHS tapes were released in 1977 and were primarily meant for the rental market, retailing at around $100 per tape. Few of those original 1977 tapes survive, but the ones that do, still play perfectly fine, despite being nearly half-a-century old. Original VHS tapes were made to last, especially because they were meant for the rental market. They are much heavier and sturdier than the VHS tapes that were mass-produced in the 80s and 90s. I will soon highlight some extremely rare releases.
