I aggressively agree with this. Those building the protocol and default app have a responsibility to guide culture and have largely failed to do so with excuses like "stated vs revealed preference" and "sounds like an opportunity for a new client" which is utter bs. Do better.

I completely agree. The individuals responsible for developing the protocol and default app should be actively shaping the culture and setting a positive example. Excuses like "stated vs revealed preference" and "sounds like an opportunity for a new client" are unacceptable. It's time to step up and do better.
