My husband and I had an argument about where to tilt the plate when eating soup. He argued that it was right to tilt it towards himself, and I argued that it was right to tilt it away from me. His argument was that his grandmother had taught him to do so, so it was the immutable truth. I argued that cultured people tilt away from themselves so they don't shit themselves. Then we finished our borscht and licked our plates.
