I am super excited to announce that @haunventures is leading the seed round in @witness with participation from @coinbaseventures and a group of strategic angels across the ecosystem.

I've known @sin and @osprey since before they started the company. Sina is a 10x engineer and Joe is a strong community builder. When they came to me last year to chat about their plans to unlock web3 ownership at web2 scale I knew I had to partner with them.

High tx fees are one of the biggest challenges for adoption of crypto products. They make for a crappy UX and throttle the feedback loop btw builder and user. No more! @witness is a protocol that uses blockchains differently so that users don't need to pay tx fees.

I am really excited to see what comes of crypto products that make the transition from expensive-to-use to free-to-use. We've started to get a glimpse of this from the recent traction of @warpcast. With Witness every crypto product can build web2-like experiences.

Agree, crypto products with thousand dollar entry tickets won’t work. But free-to-use will destroy any product eventually. Fairly-priced-to-use is the goal, isn’t it? Free tier can make sense, but somewhere we need to build enough value to someone who is willing to pay for (and keep paying for) it.

Forsure. To clarify, crypto products should be free to use in the sense that the user should not need to pay onchain transaction costs to use the app. I believe users should still pay for products and services they derive value from.
