What differentiates EVM chains/rollups when they have the same stablecoins, DeFi protocols, and NFT marketplaces deployed across them?

My guess right now is the early ecosystem-first projects and the culture that springs up around them.

Possibly where value of the underlying L2 accrues to (governance token or other method)

Dev tools seem to be mostly interchangeable if both are EVM.

In culture, I was thinking about how solana built a culture slightly separate and differentiated from Eth. Or Optimism's focus on public goods. Coinbase focused on Coinbase-y use cases.

If you control for app availability (I think thats likely the most important one) then secondarily you'd look at price, and UX--  specifically getting into and out of the rollup. I'm not sure culture is as meaningful once you control for apps... 🤔
